Mulled Wine
As we draw into the colder months of Winter, here at Urban Winery Sydney we offer a beautifully spiced Mulled Wine available in our Wine Bar every Thursday through til Sunday.
“The cold weather snap has suddenly hit and it actually has some benefit- now it is Mulled Wine Season!
Mulled wine- or Gluhwein is a hot, spiced wine originating in the alps of Europe and finding a special place in the hearts of cold Sydney-siders.
At Urban Winery Sydney the recipe we have honed over the years is heavy on the cinnamon and nutmeg with orange, ginger and honey in the mix- along with cardamon and… well, we cant give away ALL our secrets!

2019 A.Retief Reserve Shiraz
“This months Wine of the Month has to be a wine fit for a King- and quiche!
The 2019 Reserve Shiraz from Gundagai fits the bill.
2019 was an amazing year for grapes in the Gundagai region. A cool, dry Spring coupled with a hot summer produced fruit that has incredible body and flavour. Being such an intense palate, brand new French barriques were needed. There is a deep rich, purple colour and a nose of nutmeg, berry tart, aniseed and chocolate. 14 months maturing in new oak has added a depth to the intense flavours, creating a brooding palate that is deep, long and full. Rich chocolate, cherries and plummy red fruit round out the finish that is long and full-bodied.”
