Sourced from the Mokhinui vineyard in the Hilltops region of NSW, the vineyard has a lot of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon planted and an awesome block in the middle that is a combination of pretty much every variety that blends well with Shiraz and Cab. Here I buy Grenache, Mataro, Merlot, Malbec, Tempranillo and Petit verdot.

2013 Mataro has a highly perfumed nose of bright fruit and light spice. The palate is almost like a more powerful Pinot, cherry, earth and dried flowers, with the higher alcohols Mataro has giving a lot of length and strength to the palate without big grippy tannins.
